

The beginnings of the village go back to the 13th century. The local countryside, situated at the edge of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, is remarkably varied. This consolidated community consists of 7 villages: Radenín, Terezín, Bítov, Kozmice, Nuzbely, Hroby and Lažany. The dominating features of the area are the castle Radenín ( today a children's home with a boarding school) and St. Margaret Church. The landscaped park, gardens and Jewish cemetery on a hill close to Radenín can also be of interest to visitors coming here. The business activity of tle village is represented by commercial enterprise which offers eleven services. In the village Hroby is the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and historical castle.
The population at present is 448, the area 2691,69 ha, and the altitude is 503 m above sea-level. In Radenín there is a post office, a municipal office, a local shop and a library. In Radenín as well as Kozmice, new family houses for young people are being built.

The goal of this periodical is to inform the citizens on the news and events in Radenín. The paper serves as the information system of the municipal office of Radenín trying to acquitant the locals with council activities as well as the economic situation of the community and commercial establishments, the results of football matches, volunteer firemen competitions and obligatory notices.

Historical landmarks in Radenín
The historical landmarks in the community are represented by the original manor, (including ramparts with gates, the castle, outbuildings, park), the village, the church with cemetery, St. John of Nepomuk Chapel with the family Baillet de Latour’s tomb, village chapels, wayside crosses, original Jewish ghetto and Jewish cemetery.

The whole premises of the mansion used to be walled, a part of the fortification from the 14th century and relicts of later fortifications have been preserved, The Northern Gate was pulled down.

The castle is a dipteral building and, together with other buildings and walls, surrounds the courtyard. The main wing is characterized by its columnes and semi-columnes.The ground floor is decorated . On the second floor a lune string course, a garden facade with a square tower can be seen. On the ground floor there are semicular vaults with wedges. The outbuildings used to stand north of tle castle, of which only stables have been preserved.

The castle courtyard is devided into two parts. The lower part is dominated by a square fountain with a forged cage ( with an inscribed date 1867) and a linden-tree in the corner. The upper part has lately been transformed into a garden consisting of two grass terraces with gravel paths, flower beds and two huge chestnut-trees.

The storage garden is situated next to the access road before the entrance to the court.
There is a cellar and an elevated terrace is bordered by a wall.

A municipal pond used to be on the place where the house number 84 can be seen today. Nearby – opposite the house Nb. 8 was Příplata’s fishpond. On the dam were two linden-trees with a stone cross inbetween, which has been removed to the steps below the cemetery.
